’’Tahe Del’’ – Daad’s
New Album
|
Having launched their first
album with the title ‘Gush Kon’, (available at
www.phoncetor.com), the Berlin based
band Daad (shout, justice) produced their second opus named ‘Tahe Del’
(in the depth of the heart), after one and a half years.
Their first work largely
consisted of positive songs, oriental reggae and raggamuffin tracks,
love songs, political tunes, and stories about drugs and the flight out
of Iran. In their second release, consisting of 20 tracks, Daad widely
follows this line. ‘Tahe Del’, as the title already says, is a very
personal album, where Mehty and Kaaveh sing about their thoughts and
experiences. The song ‘Az Tahe Del’, for instances, treats racism and
their everyday life in Germany. |

Tracks such as ‘Khaterat’ and ‘Deltangi’ display deep emotions - they are about longing and memories. Tunes such
as ‘Man Hanooz’ and ‘Azizam’ deal of love and they also have political
statements as in ‘Omid daram’. ‘Ey Vay’, ‘Bia Djelo’ and ‘Taharok’ are
good tracks to dance to, while Mehty and Kaaveh do not forget to pose
and represent in tunes like ‘Beato Bede’ or ‘Hala Hame’. Finally they
also tell us sad stories about strokes of fate as in ‘Age In’ and about
the Near and Middle East in tunes such as ‘Khavare Miane’.
Their musical scope accounts for straight hip hop, reggae, ragga,
reggaeton, but also jazz, Persian 6/8 rhythms and other influences.
Mehty, the producer of Daad, makes sure that the sound is suitable for
clubs but still remains sophisticated.
Daad has furthermore invited some well-known instrumentalists from the
music scene of Berlin such as the Filipino pianist Carolyn del Rosario,
the Iranian violinist Ruhi Giahchi, the American trumpeter Don Drummond
and the Libanese Keyboarder Diab Nasser, who enrich and complete their
music. |
